What we handle

Compliance that holds up under audit

Cost-reimbursable and T&M contracts come with obligations that commercial accounting doesn't cover: segregating unallowable costs, timekeeping discipline, defensible indirect pools, and an incurred cost proposal due six months after each fiscal year end.

Our Northern Virginia and DC teams work with small and mid-size contractors every day, from 8(a) and other socioeconomic program participants to established primes.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

When is an incurred cost submission due?

Under FAR 52.216-7, contractors with flexibly priced contracts generally submit within six months after the end of each fiscal year. Extensions require contracting officer approval.

What makes an accounting system adequate for DCAA?

Among other things, it must segregate direct from indirect costs, identify and exclude unallowable costs, accumulate costs by contract, and support timekeeping that ties labor to final cost objectives. The SF 1408 checklist summarizes the criteria.

Do we need DCAA compliance if we only have firm-fixed-price contracts?

Pure firm-fixed-price work usually carries fewer cost accounting requirements, but certified cost or pricing data, T&M contracts and future cost-type awards can change that. Building the system early costs less than retrofitting it.

Can you help an 8(a) firm prepare for growth beyond the program?

Yes. We help 8(a) participants build the accounting, rate and audit history they'll need to compete after graduation.
