What we handle

One advisor for the whole household balance sheet

Your personal return is where your business, investments and family decisions all meet. We coordinate with your attorney and financial advisor so the tax effect of each move is understood before it is made.

For clients with homes or income in more than one state, we manage residency positions and credits, and we document them in case a state ever asks.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

Can you help if I moved states this year?

Yes. Part-year returns and residency documentation are a core part of our individual practice, especially for moves in and out of New York, DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Do you prepare trust and estate returns?

Yes. We prepare Form 1041 fiduciary returns and Form 709 gift tax returns and coordinate with your estate attorney.

I have foreign bank accounts. What do I need to file?

Depending on balances, you may need an FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) and Form 8938. Penalties for missed reporting can be significant, and there are procedures for catching up. We'll review your situation.

When should we start year-end planning?

Ideally by October. Many strategies, such as gifting, harvesting losses and timing income, have to be completed before December 31.
