What we handle

What Houston clients ask us about

Texas has no personal income tax, so Houston owners focus on federal tax, the Texas franchise (margin) tax and sales and use tax. Energy producers and investors deal with intangible drilling cost deductions, percentage depletion and working interest rules, while oilfield service, petrochemical and logistics companies face multi-state payroll and nexus as crews and equipment move across state lines.

The Texas Medical Center makes Houston a hub for physician practices, urgent care and healthcare staffing. We help with practice structure, reasonable compensation, equipment deductions, payroll audits and practice sales, and we represent Houston taxpayers in IRS examinations, collections and appeals.

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

Do you have an office in Houston?

Our offices are in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and New York. We serve Houston clients remotely with secure document exchange and video meetings, and visit on site when an engagement needs it.

Does Texas have a state income tax?

No personal income tax, but most businesses owe the Texas franchise (margin) tax, generally 0.75% of taxable margin, or 0.375% for qualifying retailers and wholesalers, once revenue exceeds the no-tax-due threshold.

Can you represent me in an IRS audit if I live in Houston?

Yes. IRS representation is federal, and our CPAs represent taxpayers in every state through a power of attorney on Form 2848.

Do you work with oil and gas investors?

Yes. We advise on intangible drilling cost deductions, percentage depletion, working interest losses and the passive activity rules that apply to them.

Can you help a Houston medical practice?

Yes. We work with physician practices, urgent care centers and healthcare staffing firms on structure, compensation, payroll and transactions.
