What we handle

What DFW clients ask us about

Many companies and families move to Dallas, Plano, Frisco and Irving from high-tax states. A relocation saves state income tax only if the move is documented well enough to survive a residency audit by the former state, and the business may still owe tax in the states where it operates. We plan the move, the business structure and the Texas franchise tax that follows.

DFW is also a major market for acquisitions, franchise groups and real estate investment. We provide quality of earnings and tax due diligence, cost segregation and 1031 exchange planning, and IRS representation when examinations arise.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

Do you have an office in Dallas?

Our offices are in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and New York. We serve Dallas–Fort Worth clients remotely and visit on site when an engagement needs it.

I moved to Texas. Can my old state still tax me?

Possibly. States such as California and New York audit former residents, especially high earners. You need to show you changed your domicile, and income earned while a resident or from sources in that state can still be taxed.

Does a Texas company pay franchise tax?

Most entities with limited liability do, once revenue exceeds the no-tax-due threshold. The tax is generally 0.75% of taxable margin, or 0.375% for qualifying retailers and wholesalers.

Do you provide quality of earnings reports for DFW acquisitions?

Yes. We prepare quality of earnings, net working capital and tax diligence for buyers and sellers.

Can you help with an IRS audit in Dallas?

Yes. Our CPAs represent taxpayers nationwide under a Form 2848 power of attorney.
