Leesburg, VA · Local advisory

Tax and advisory for Leesburg and western Loudoun.

Leesburg is Loudoun County's historic seat, surrounded by growing neighborhoods, wineries, farms and small businesses. Our Ashburn headquarters is minutes away, and our advisors work with Leesburg owners and families directly.

What we handle

What Leesburg clients ask us about

The Town of Leesburg has its own business license requirements in addition to Loudoun County's business personal property tax. We help Leesburg businesses register correctly, plan entity structure and owner pay, and keep payroll and sales tax filings current.

Western Loudoun's wineries, breweries, farms and equestrian properties raise questions about land use assessment, hobby loss rules and depreciation, while growing families need planning for rental properties and estates. We advise on all of it.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

Does the Town of Leesburg require a business license?

Yes. Businesses in the town generally need a Town of Leesburg business license, and also file business personal property returns with Loudoun County.

Can my farm or winery losses offset other income?

Only if the activity is run as a business with a profit motive. The IRS applies the hobby loss rules in section 183, so records and a business plan matter.
