Tax and advisory for Long Island businesses and families.

From Garden City and Melville to the Hamptons, Long Island combines professional firms, medical practices, real estate and family-owned businesses. Our New York office serves Nassau and Suffolk clients in person or by video.

What we handle

What Long Island clients ask us about

Long Island is in New York's Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District, so self-employed owners can owe the MCTMT, and pass-through owners should consider the New York PTET election. New York's estate tax has a sharp cliff for estates just over the exemption, which makes planning important for many families here.

Long Island medical practices, contractors, real estate investors and family businesses need tax planning, audits and succession advice. Owners of second homes and rentals in the Hamptons also need depreciation and residency planning.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

What is the New York estate tax cliff?

If a New York taxable estate exceeds the exemption by more than 5%, the exemption is lost entirely and the whole estate is taxed, so estates just over the line can owe a large tax.

Does the MCTMT apply to Long Island businesses?

Yes. Nassau and Suffolk are in the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District, so employers above the payroll threshold and self-employed individuals above the earnings threshold may owe it.

Do you have an office near Long Island?

Our New York office at 1177 Avenue of the Americas serves Long Island clients, in person or by video.

Can you represent me before the IRS?

Yes. Our CPAs represent individuals and businesses in IRS examinations, appeals and collections nationwide under a Form 2848 power of attorney.

IRS releases 2027 inflation adjustments (Rev. Proc. 2026-35)

For 2027 the joint-return standard deduction rises to $33,200, the estate tax basic exclusion to $15,480,000, the annual gift exclusion to $20,000 and the Section 179 expensing limit to $2,640,000. Our advisors recommend revisiting year-end gifting and equipment purchase plans with these figures in mind.
