McLean, VA · Local advisory

Tax planning for McLean executives, owners and families.

McLean and Great Falls are home to corporate executives, business owners, senior federal officials and established families. Our advisors handle their income, investment and estate tax planning, and represent them before the IRS.

What we handle

What McLean clients ask us about

Many McLean households combine high salaries and equity awards, closely held businesses, investment portfolios and real estate. Coordinating the 3.8% net investment income tax, Virginia income tax, charitable giving and the federal estate and gift tax exemption makes a real difference to what families keep.

Owners of companies based in Tysons and along the Dulles corridor also need entity and compensation planning, the Virginia pass-through entity election and succession planning. We advise on all of it and represent clients when the IRS examines a return.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

How large is the federal estate tax exemption now?

The 2025 tax law set the federal estate and gift tax exemption at $15 million per person starting in 2026, indexed for inflation. Virginia has no estate tax.

Can charitable giving reduce my tax on a large gain?

Often. Donating appreciated stock or funding a donor-advised fund before a sale can avoid capital gains tax on the donated shares and give a deduction.

Do you have an office near McLean?

Our headquarters is in Ashburn, a short drive from McLean. We meet McLean clients at our office, at theirs or by video.

Can you represent me before the IRS?

Yes. Our CPAs represent individuals and businesses in IRS examinations, appeals and collections nationwide under a Form 2848 power of attorney.

IRS releases 2027 inflation adjustments (Rev. Proc. 2026-35)

For 2027 the joint-return standard deduction rises to $33,200, the estate tax basic exclusion to $15,480,000, the annual gift exclusion to $20,000 and the Section 179 expensing limit to $2,640,000. Our advisors recommend revisiting year-end gifting and equipment purchase plans with these figures in mind.
