Virginia Beach, VA · Local advisory

Tax and advisory for Virginia Beach families and businesses.

Virginia Beach is Virginia's largest city, with major Navy installations, a busy oceanfront tourism economy and a large real estate market. Our advisors serve its military families, property owners and businesses.

What we handle

What Virginia Beach clients ask us about

Military families in Virginia Beach move often and face questions about state residency, spouses' income and selling or renting a home after a transfer. We apply the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and related rules, and help with rental properties kept after orders.

Oceanfront short-term rentals, hotels and restaurants need transient occupancy and sales tax compliance and depreciation planning, while defense contractors around the bases need DCAA-ready accounting. We advise all of them.

Generally yes. Under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, a service member keeps their state of legal residence, and spouses can elect to use the same state.

Do short-term rentals in Virginia Beach owe extra taxes?

Yes. Short-term rentals generally collect Virginia sales tax and local transient occupancy taxes, and must register with the city.

Do you have an office near Virginia Beach?

We serve Virginia Beach from our Northern Virginia headquarters in Ashburn, with secure document exchange, video meetings and on-site visits when an engagement needs them.

Can you represent me before the IRS?

Yes. Our CPAs represent individuals and businesses in IRS examinations, appeals and collections nationwide under a Form 2848 power of attorney.
