San Jose, CA · Local advisory

Tax advice for Silicon Valley's tech professionals and companies.

San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Cupertino are home to the world's largest technology companies and a large community of engineers, many with family and assets abroad. Our advisors serve them remotely.

What we handle

What San Jose clients ask us about

Tech employees in Silicon Valley receive RSUs, ESPP shares and stock options that create withholding gaps, AMT and complex basis reporting. Many are H-1B or green card holders with bank accounts, mutual funds and property in India and other countries, which bring FBAR, Form 8938 and PFIC reporting.

Semiconductor and software companies here rely on research credits and section 174A planning, and on careful California and multi-state payroll. We advise companies and their people, and represent clients before the IRS and FTB.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question isn't here, call (703) 880-8412 and you'll reach a person.

Do I need to report my Indian mutual funds?

Usually yes. Foreign mutual funds are generally PFICs with special reporting on Form 8621, and accounts holding them may require FBAR and Form 8938.

Why does my W-2 show more income than my salary?

RSU and ESPP income is included in W-2 wages when it vests or when shares are sold, so W-2 income is often higher than base pay.

Do you have an office near San Jose?

Our offices are in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and New York. We serve San Jose clients remotely with secure document exchange and video meetings, and visit on site when an engagement needs it.

Can you represent me before the IRS?

Yes. Our CPAs represent individuals and businesses in IRS examinations, appeals and collections nationwide under a Form 2848 power of attorney.

IRS releases 2027 inflation adjustments (Rev. Proc. 2026-35)

For 2027 the joint-return standard deduction rises to $33,200, the estate tax basic exclusion to $15,480,000, the annual gift exclusion to $20,000 and the Section 179 expensing limit to $2,640,000. Our advisors recommend revisiting year-end gifting and equipment purchase plans with these figures in mind.
